Azura to Rua

Once again we were on the road with our longest day ahead of us, 18 km.

Some pilgrims were really preparing for the long day ahead.

We just kept on walking and realized that we had never set out when the sky was actually blue!

This is one way to advertise...

As usual we passed through charming hamlets.

Today seemed to be a green door day.

We did have a few near mishaps with bicyclists and there were a large group of younger teenagers singing cheerfully but often the roads are quiet except for the sounds of hiking poles hitting the ground.

We are always happy to find cafes and this was our second stop of the day complete with Eric Clapton music drifting out through speakers in the trees.

There were sheep grazing as we ate and just up the road in a picnic area we found Chris who had left way earlier than her housemates and had even seen the sun rise so she joined us walking the last seven kilometers.

Now I bet you didn't know we were traveling with a saint...

We were a bit surprised to see those young people having a siesta. We know Spain shuts down in the afternoon but this was a first.

In our never ending pursuit of stamps for our pilgrim's passports we met a very interesting young man and Chris and I bought t-shirts to help his cause. We were not quite sure what it was but then he showed us his picture when he got a medal at the Paraolympics and I then noticed that he had an artificial leg.

The rest of the walk was quite pleasant with the knowledge that we were getting closer to our destination.

Only one more kilometer.

We had a pre-recorded advertisement for a hotel.

Giant trees...
Another green door...

and another charming village...

But best of all it was our village and our home for the night.
After having lunch and a drink with us, Chris set off to find her hotel for the night a couple of kilometers down the road since her room mates still hadn't come by.

In about ten minutes, who should appear?!

They joined us for a drink before setting back down the road to meet
Chris.
So here we are in our cute apartment but once again fighting flies.

19 kilometers to go...

Location:Rua, Spain
