Into Wine Country-the Santa Ynez Valley

We arrived in Solvang, a "Danish" themed town in the heart of wine country made famous by the movie,Sideways

We had to have a latte and I had a delicious pastry at Olsen's.

The town really looks Danish and has many places to shop and of course, taste wine!

Christmas, anyone?

Next stop was Los Olivos, which was very charming.

I was disappointed not to meet the mayor, a black and white cat!

Our lunch stop-I swear we had salad and no wine!

I did a wine tasting at Branders but didn't buy any wine. Sue was driving by then. We did a quick stop in the town of Santa Ynez but we didn't stop, not much there we could see!

Our next stop was Sunstone Winery but I wasn't up to sampling another five wines so we sampled olive oil instead.

Very pretty setting

Then we literally wound down the mountain on Route 154.

Suddenly we could see all the way to the ocean!

When we got back to Santa Barbara we visited a Nancy recommendation, Arroyo Burro Beach.

Check out the plain air painters!

After a lovely drive along Santa Barbara's beachfront and a stop at Trader Joe's, we were back home.
Tonight's plan is an outdoor Hitchcock movie at the courthouse sunken garden up the street. If we get scared it is a short walk home!
