Well we began the journey on foot today at about 8 am from or hotel. What I didn't take a picture of was all the stairs we initially had to climb to get up to the upper part of the town. I was really regretting my lack of training!
We reached the top and here we all are.
As you can see no bright blazing sun for us but Vancouver like weather only.
We left town and began to see what seems typical El Camino scenery.
We were on our way complete with a bit of advice.
Again there were some real ups and downs on our path and after stepping into one cow pie I realized I needed to watch my step. it drizzled and rained at times quite steadily bit not really hard. lots of pretty wild flowers.
And not evident by my photos lots of "pilgrims" walking and even cycling. After an hour we stopped for our first passport and a coffee.
Then we reached the half way point and another stamp in our passport. By then I actually was feeling in the rhythm, but of course there had to be one more rather long hill but then miraculously we were at our destination for the day. We had walked 11.5 kilometers. We had lunch and then were picked up and driven back to our hotel. We are the El Camino princesses!
But we were all pleased that we did our first segment and all felt fine. It took us three and a half hours including our coffee break.
The drive back took far less time. Tomorrow we will be driven back here and walk the 10 km. to Portomarin. Right now we are having a break and then will go out to explore Sarria.
