Now remember we are doing this trip the easy way so this morning we were driven to Casa Morgade where we left off the trip yesterday then we continued on to Portmarin. Another kind of grey, drizzly day weather wise but a pleasant walk for three of us but Patricia had a bit of trouble with her knee that really bothered her going down hill and just like yesterday there were many ups and downs. She was a trooper and with the aid of an improvised walking stick made it all the way.
It was fairly quiet at the beginning because most "pilgrims" didn't have the head start we did but it got busier.
One thing you notice as you walk are the shrines where people have left pictures, stones, and other momentos.
We also saw a variety of animals and birds-domestic and wild.
We were also amazed by some of the stone work and the slate roofs we saw.
And always there are the long twisty roads and beautiful scenery.
We had one short stop at a lovely spot but we powered on and really before we knew it we spotted Portomarin in the distance.
But we weren't getting into town without a few stairs.
And here we are at our destination.
And here is the view from town.
So here we are after lunch with a new friend who just kept on walking, relaxing. I think the sun is even shining-our hotel has a river view but not our rooms! And there is even a pool.
Stay tuned for more adventures.
Location:Pousada dePortomarín,Spain
IS that lavendar growing outside the hotel balcony, that overlooks the river? It looks very summery...and the Campino (sp?) must occasionally be swept by gusts of "perfumed" breezes from the flowers, herbs, shrubs, trees and animals lying alongside the trail. Looks very pleasant! Keep up the hiking!
