End of cruise and off to Fort Lauderdale February 21-22

I had become used to opening the balcony door and seeing the ocean so that Saturday it was a bit of a shock to see Miami! No sitting out there in my nightgown today!

We had enjoyed our last full day Friday on the cruise.

A nice leisurely breakfast in the dining room

A tour of one of the galleys

A hilarious cooking competition featuring two speciality restaurant chefs and passenger partners judged by the executive chef

A final show with some very talented performers

A swim in the swimming pool

Here is a diagram of the ship in case you became confused

And don't you like that staircase?

But all good things must end and we were off to other adventures

But landing in Miami sure was spectacular in the early morning

But we were off to get our rental car at the airport and while waiting for a taxi we spotted a complimentary shuttle bus for our rental company.

Soon we were on our way to Fort Lauderdale less than an hour north of the airport...
After a late lunch at the lovely Galleria Mall, we stocked up with a few groceries and checked into the Tranquilo Hotel

Strangely the number one Trip Advisor pick was the motel Linda and I had stayed in 1977 (our only other visit to Fort Lauderdale) but it was totally booked so I found this huge two bedroom two bathroom suite with huge living room dining room kitchen for a very reasonable price, just a couple of blocks from the beach in a quiet neighbourhood. And we really enjoyed our stay here.

I thought I would invite you in...

Our view from our new balcony. I love Florida nights-I always think of the Glenn Campbell song, Summer Nights...
Stay tuned for more about Fort Lauderdale.
