We arrived in Barcelona late in the afternoon and I was happy to find friends from Vancouver, Lydia and Mark, who were in the neighbourhood and popped in to welcome us.
We checked out our room
and were pleased to see that we could see the ocean out our window! It was quite a luxurious hotel, The Pullman Barcelona Skipper built in the area developed for the 1992 Olympic Village and Port.
We drove along the ocean, seeing where the cruise ships come in etc.
We headed up Montjuic but taking pictures out of buses isn't the easiest!
This is an area with a great deal of history (site of 1929 World's Fair and 1992 Olympics) and lots of attractions.
The sun was beginning to set
I liked this neat monument celebrating Catalonia's dance, the Sardano
I love sunsets
and it was lovely to be able to see so much of Barcelona in the pink light
You can take a tram and a gondola up to the top of the mountain, which would be fun.
We were heading back down into the city
and we were taken to a lovely restaurant for a very fun and delicious meal
I remember to take a picture at desert time...
It was very exciting to finally be in Barcelona
and it was a great evening!
