We set off for Niagara on the Lake today. Although we looked for ticket deals on line for Thursday we didn't have much luck and decided to see if we would have any better luck at the box office.
The cheapest ticket we could find was for 130 dollars! Moral of the story is try to plan ahead, especially in the summer if you want to go the Shaw Festival. I have been before and the plays were great!
We just had fun wandering...
Beautiful flowers
Fun store displays
More gorgeous flowers
A neat artist's gallery
One of the theatres
lunch anyone?
we left Niagara on the Lake and headed on the Niagara Parkway towards Niagara Falls. To learn more about this area and all the sites and attractions just click here.
A winery stop
Then a visit to a historic house
And before you knew it we were in Niagara Falls!
we parked our car at the Comfort Inn on Clifton here where there is lots of action. Not really. My type of think but I was thinking how my former students would love it!
But of course we were on our way to the falls. On the left is the American falls and on the right the bigger Canadian falls!
The sheer force of the water is amazing!
we were on our way down to enjoy a boat ride up close and personal
someone asked me about raincoats...
You can see everyone waiting in their green raincoats. Hornblower Niagara cruises now has the contract on the Canadian side. For years Maid of the Mist did but now they do the cruises on the American side.
This is the Rainbow Bridge into Niagara Falls, New York!
Now I have to say this ride was well worth the price even though sometimes it was hard to see what I was shooting as the mist sprayed but I didn't really get wet!
I am not sure why I waited so long to go on this trip but it was worth the wait!
On the drive back to Ridgeway we stopped for a bit of a picnic along the river. What a fun day!
