We were up bright and early once again
on our way to Dubrovnik
Up in the Lika area it was temperate in climate and colourful
The topography changed as we headed towards the coast
Our lunch stop was the beautiful town of Markarska
You can see its beautiful setting on this beautiful day. We had a tasty lunch (pizza and salad I believe) in one of the many restaurants along the waterfront.
We really hadn't yet had much of a chance for shopping so it was fun to see the local stores.
and check out an exotic plant or two
the entrance to the town square
where we found a shy kitty
and we even saw a yellow submarine back at the harbour.
On the road again we passed these lovely lakes near Ploce
Then we crossed into a the tiny piece of coastline owned by Bosnia Herzegovina a gift from the Republic of Dubrovnik long ago to the Ottoman Empire. We had fun searching for souvenirs here.
We quickly went through the Bosnia border but were the fifth tour bus to hit the Croatian border and were held up an hour (Bosnia isn't in the EU as Croatia is).
We were not on the right side of the bus but here's a little video of our trip into Dubrovnik
The sun was setting as we got into Dubrovnik. Our hotel here was quite luxurious and we had a nice dinner after our travelling day, anxious to explore this storied city we had heard so much about the following day.
