Day Two San Francisco

Just a note-all pictures taken with my new I-phone




After coffee and yoghurt and fruit and almonds (an economical breakfast in our room) we were off to the waterfront and the market at the ferry building. our journey took us along Market Street, aptly named!




I loved the idea of a store just for fancy Japanese sweets!-




Soon we reached our destination. there are markets every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I had been to the Saturday market which is where you have the most food venders. Then it was near Pier 39. In its new location, the Ferry Building is also full of stores for foodies.

Sur La Table is a chain and my favourite cooking accessory store so that I was happy to find one here!

Great words about San Francisco!




Here you can see why it is called the Ferry Building and we were planning to take a ferry to Sausalito but our timing was a bit off so that we decided to check out a recommendation for a restaurant in North Beach for lunch!




We walked along until we reached Green Street.




Well perhaps I should mention it was all up hill! I yearned a bit for my Camino walking poles!




The climb was worth it though-loved these houses!




You stay in shape on Telegraph Hill!

I think we had earned lunch at Bocce from all that walking...




We received a second recommendation for Bocce that had a lovely patio inn the back!

I was excited to find the famous City Lights Bookstore!




















and then as we wandered down Grant we were in China Town.
















And then for a moment I thought I was in Paris




Too bad we weren't hungry!

We ended up the evening at Camelot! Our day in San Francisco made me feel as if I had experienced a bit of the magic of Camelot! What a wonderful day!

San Francisco Day One

This year I did go on trips to Arizona, San Antonio, and to Quebec but I didn't write as I went. I think that is a mistake so in this trip I am going to write as I go! Sunday we drove down to Bellingham from Vancouver or Port Moody to be exact! Our flight was 8 o'clock so that would have been too early a goal! We stayed near the airport at the Best Western and were out after breakfast at 6:15 to get to the nearby airport.




I love small airports. Going though security took no time at all! I also enjoyed our two hour flight to Oakland-no movies to choose from, no music choices, no free drinks to decide. Life was simple! I just read my book and drank my water. It was only two hours!




We landed and soon we were on the Air Bart bus and then transferred at the Coliseum to the Bart and I couldn't help but think of Vancouver's Canada Line.




Soon we were at the Powell Street station and walking by Union Square on our way to the Prescott Hotel. The Prescott is lovely, part of the Kimpton chain-a company that often seems to renovate older buildings into interesting hotels.




Our room wasn't ready quite yet so we went back to Union Square to have lunch!




We wandered over to Maiden Lane, once the Red Light district but now an area of rather expensive looking stores.




















Eventually we were back checking into our hotel. After planning future adventures, it was time for Happy Hour in our hotel complete with complimentary wine and appetizers




Next we went over to Mission Street and dined at The Grove, recommended to us. We loved the Motown soundtrack and atmosphere and delicious food.




We walked back to our hotel past Union Square noticing the fog.
